The REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois (RASI) began a year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary with a centennial kickoff party Jan. 9 at the Edge in Belleville.

“This 100-year celebration is the beginning of a fantastic year,” said REALTOR® Judy Doyle, a former RASI president and a broker for RE/MAX Preferred in Swansea.

RASI members celebrated “Getting you Home for 100 Years” with Belleville City Treasurer Dean Hardt, St. Louis BattleHawks President Kurt Hunzeker and several members of the BattleHawks marketing team. Hardt read a proclamation from Belleville Mayor Mark Eckert honoring RASI. Others in attendance included Kristen Butcher, Executive Vice President of Illinois REALTORS®, Jon Broadbooks, Vice President of Communications for Illinois REALTORS® and Young Brockhouse, Vice President of Professional Development for Illinois REALTORS®.

A photo slide show of current RASI leaders and past board presidents added to the historical perspective.

RASI plans to incorporate the centennial theme into annual events such as its awards luncheon and installation, offer fun social media contests and conduct a food truck party on anniversary of its day of incorporation, June 5.

RASI is led by CEO Deb Frazier, President Donna Baker of RE/MAX Preferred in O’Fallon, President-elect Celeste Wheeler of RE/MAX Preferred in O’Fallon, Treasurer Karen Sheesley of Strano & Associates Real Estate in O’Fallon and Immediate Past President Judy Ross of Southern Illinois Realty, LLC in Smithton. RASI serves 1,003 members in the Metro East area.
