As a complement to its recent tax reform Call for Action, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is asking consumers to join the fight to preserve tax incentives for homeowners.

NAR is hoping large numbers of consumers will contact their congressional representatives and voice their opposition to restrictions to the Mortgage Interest Deduction and the elimination of deductions for state and local taxes.

Under the tax reform framework shared with Congress, the NAR says only Americans whose income is in the top 5 percent will be able to use the Mortgage Interest Deduction. Another proposal eliminates the deduction for state and local taxes. The plan could lower the value of all homes by more than 10 percent and inhibit growth.
