The Chicago Department of Planning and Development will receive REALTOR® input with the development of its next five-year housing plan.

For the third time in his career, Illinois REALTORS® local Government Affairs Director Brian Bernardoni will join the Advisory Group for the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development in several June and July meetings. The city has invited a variety of stakeholders to join the advisory group and consider issues, strategies, resources and priorities that effect housing and its affordability in Chicago.

The Department of Planning and Development will use the group’s feedback to help formulate a housing plan for 2019-2023 that emphasizes diversity, affordability, growth and equity in the Chicago housing market.

The kickoff meeting, “The State of Housing Markets in Chicago and the Vision Forward,” is June 20. Subsequent meetings are scheduled for June 27, “Creating and Preserving Affordable Housing,” and July 11, “Community Revitalization and Development.” The department plans to review the 2019-2023 plan in early October.

Bernardoni previously served on the advisory group during the administrations of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
