Description

This course will satisfy 6 hours of the 12-hour requirement for those individuals applying for the pre-license instructor license.

Pre-License Instructor Applicant Requirements:

Applicants for a Pre-License Instructor License shall meet the following requirements:
1. Pass an examination provided and approved by the DRE and administered by PSI with a minimum score of 75 percent.
AND
2. Demonstrate expertise by:
a. Holding an active broker or managing broker license for the immediately preceding 2 years; or
b. Being admitted to the practice of law by the Supreme Court of Illinois; or
c. Prior teaching experience for a minimum period of 2 years; or
d. Professional background and experience.
AND
3. Complete a 12-hour instructor development course administered over 2 or more days, approved by the DRE, and comprised of: i) 6 hours devoted to instructor training and development; and ii) 6 hours devoted to teaching the content of pre-license courses.

Course Contents

The course will provide an overview of the Broker Pre-license Topics course and will offer instructor guidelines for a successful course, along with practical student exercises to help guide new instructors in providing effective communication with their students. The course will also provide an update for those instructors who were unable to teach a course in their pre-renewal cycle.

Course Delivery

This is a paperless electronic course. All course materials are delivered via email.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants must take a 25-question pre-license exam to complete the 12-hour requirement, passing with 75% or better. Two attempts are allowed. Once passed, Illinois REALTORS will issue a certificate to the instructor candidate and also submit it to IDFPR.

Failure to pass the 25-question, pre-license with the two allowed attempts renders the participant ineligible to complete the Illinois REALTORS instructor program.
