Illinois REALTORS® is saddened by the death of Margery Shinners, CEO of the Mainstreet Organization to REALTORS®, who died Tuesday.

Shinners had served as deputy CEO for Mainstreet since 2004, before taking over as CEO in December, 2016. She had been technology director of the Chicago-area REALTOR® organization prior to holding the other two positions.Margery was widely respected as a focused, personable leader who helped shepherd Mainstreet through many changes during her more than 20 years with the organization.

“Margery was deeply invested in serving Mainstreet’s members, and her leadership will be sorely missed,” said Doug Carpenter, president of Illinois REALTORS® and a member of the Mainstreet organization. “Margery’s expertise was valued by her colleagues throughout the industry, and our hearts go out to her family and many, many friends.”

Shinners had a bachelor’s degree in communications from DePaul University and a master’s degree in social work from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Pam Krieter, who retired as Mainstreet’s CEO in December, will take over as interim CEO.
