Two bills resulting from the spring session of the Illinois General Assembly affect on-the-go REALTORS® beginning today.
  • Holding a cellphone in a vehicle to text or talk will result in a moving violation instead of a warning. Bluetooth-enabled texting and voice calls are approved unless you are 18 years old.If you are in a construction or school zone, or within 500 feet of an emergency scene, you can’t use a cellphone at all, even with Bluetooth.
  • And the state’s gas tax doubles today from 19 cents a gallon to 38 cents a gallon.

Both provisions go into effect July 1.
