Sonia Anaya, Mabel Guzman, Joe Nery and Sylvia Puente are among those who’ll be part of the IAR Multicultural Summit “The Latino Factor: Global Opportunity in Your Own Backyard.”

This year’s event, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 4, 2014, will be at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Three panel discussions are tentatively scheduled:

  • “How Do Latinos Fare in the Real Estate Market?”
  • “Local Latino Trends and Solutions for Success,” and
  • “Global Success Can Be Closer Than You Think.”

Anaya, a federal political coordinator for U.S. Representative Luis Gutierrez and broker/owner of America Real Estate, will moderate the “Challenges” panel discussion. Guzman, Nery and Puente will be panelists.

Guzman, who sits on NAR’s Real Estate Finance Committee, will talk about access to capital that leads to home or business ownership. Nery, board secretary for the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and member of Nery & Richardson, LLC, will talk about obstacles preventing qualified individuals from purchasing real estate; and how to help undocumented consumers buy property. Puente, executive director of the Latino Policy Forum, will discuss education policy issues.

Registration for the summit is $40. Those who wish to attend the IAR Fall Conference and Expo later that same day can earn three hours of continuing education credit and attend a networking reception. Those who wish to participate in other combinations of the summit and fall conference must register for both events separately.
