The new Cook County Residential Tenant Landlord Ordinance (RTLO) goes into effect on June 1, 2021. There are more than 10 new disclosures and prohibited provisions that Cook County landlords and property managers will need to know and, generally speaking, implement on leases or renewals entered on or after June 1, 2021.

To help you prepare, attend a special Illinois REALTORS® roundtable discussion at 10 a.m. on May 24 to get your RTLO questions answered. Registered attendees also will receive a new Cook County Residential Tenant and Landlord Ordinance Member Guide that walks you through these new provisions.

The roundtable panel includes Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director (GAD) Adriann Murawski discussing the history of the Cook County RTLO, Illinois REALTORS® Legislative Attorney Matt Rentschler on potential legal issues and Chicago REALTOR® Chris Pezza, who will share how similar rules have worked in the city of Chicago.

Chicago, Evanston and Mount Prospect and possibly other municipalities that have their own RTLO-type ordinances do not have to comply with the new Cook County rules.

This event is being presented in conjunction with Chicago Association of REALTORS®, Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® and North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS®.
