In this episode of the Illinois REALTORS® podcast, Illinois REALTORS® Vice President of Operations Cathy Madaus and Operations Assistant Brandi Buchele discuss Illinois REALTORS® Relief Foundation (IRRF) efforts related to the June 29 derecho and tornadoes that swept through Illinois, as well as the continued work of  the foundation.

The severe weather struck central Illinois damaging homes, uprooting trees, leveling crops and leaving thousands without electricity. The areas affected included areas in and surrounding the cities of Champaign, Decatur, Danville, Lincoln and Springfield. Aid available through IRRF for this event  is limited to providing rent or mortgage assistance of up to $500 per household. Grant funds may be used to cover the cost of a monthly mortgage expense, rental fees for temporary shelter, and unreimbursed losses directly related to the disaster such as insurance deductible, water heater and HVAC.

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1, 2023. The details can be found on the application.

IRRF is the Illinois REALTORS® disaster assistance foundation. It has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to assist residents in Illinois and other states.
