In response to July flooding in Vermont and August wildfires in Maui, Illinois REALTORS® is donating a total of $20,000 to help victims of those disasters.

Half of that total was given to the Vermont Association of REALTORS® Disaster Relief Fund, and the other half will be given to the NAR REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) and be earmarked for use in Hawaii.

Vermont’s fund will provide up to $500 in immediate financial assistance to Vermont flooding victims, who must complete and submit an online application to qualify. Victims must be full-time residents and United States citizens or must be legally admitted for residence in the U.S. This fund is designed to help victims purchase cleaning supplies and other items that will not be covered by NAR’s foundation.

The RRF is the charitable, non-profit arm of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Funds are available to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis to provide housing relief needed because of the flooding. For example, RRF will cover monthly mortgage expenses for the primary residence, rental cost due to displacement and hotel reimbursement due to displacement. Successful applicants should receive RRF funding within four weeks.
