The Illinois REALTORS® Fall Business Meetings continued in Oak Brook Wednesday, with members listening, discussing, networking and absorbing ideas to help grow their businesses.

In the opening keynote session, attorney Trista Curzydlo debunked myths about antitrust laws, ethics, AI and cannabis regulations during: “Myth Busters: Dispelling Rumors and Falsehoods.”

Award-winning REALTOR® and real estate coach/trainer Chris Abazis shared his secrets for building meaningful connections with clients during the YPN forum: “Get Niche or Die Tryin‘: Branding for the Niche Market.”

The RPIC forum featured Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli and River Forest Village President Catherine Adduci as members considered the risks that affluent communities face when they can’t find the right balance between the long-term needs of residents and planning for future growth. The session, “Who Could Afford to Live Here? Promoting Affordability in Affluent Communities,” also featured RPIC Chair Michael Simpson, RPIC Vice Chair Matt Persicketti and Director of Local Advocacy Tom Benedetto.

Dr. Jessica Lautz, deputy chief economist and vice president of research for the National Association of REALTORS® and Geoff Smith, executive director and principal investigator of the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University, combined to give national and statewide housing forecasts.

During the Professional Standards interactive session, attendees learned about two ways to resolve disputes with fellow REALTORS® and avoid formal ethics hearings during: “Resolution Through Communication: The Ombudsman and Ethics Mediation Programs.”

  • “Buyer Strategies Reframed,” a continuing education course led by REALTOR® Chris Read.
