Program goal

The program goal is for Illinois REALTORS®, through the Executive Committee, past presidents and members, to develop and implement a systematic approach for the identification, placement, and training of future Illinois REALTORS® leaders. Leaders are those members who through their state, local association or other organization involvement are perceived to possess the skills, aptitude, interests and motivation to become a committee chair, and/or Illinois REALTORS® elected officer. The program is designed to further develop a person’s leadership skills in a structured program that offers training and critical evaluation.

Note:  It cannot be overemphasized that participation in this program is for self improvement and does not in any manner project or guarantee that a participant will receive preferential treatment by the Nominating Committee should the participant decide to pursue state elected office.

Participation details

Any REALTOR® member may request to participate in the program and any member may be requested to apply to participate by a member of the Leadership Development Working Group. The program will be limited to twelve (12) new participants each year. Each candidate will complete an application form to establish their past level of participation and involvement in state or local association and other groups.

Tracey B. Williams, ABR®, RIS, PSA, President, Managing Broker, TEAM Real Estate Services, Oak Park

“It was an honor and pleasure to participate in the 2018 Illinois Realtors Leadership Academy. This experience taught me how to chorale diverse personalities, styles and opinions toward establishing a mission and purpose to achieve effective outcomes. I recently planned and facilitated a retreat as incoming President for the Women’s Council of Realtors Chicago. I recalled several elements from my training in the Leadership Academy to achieve what turned out to be a productive, fun, memorable collaboration of thoughts, ideas and synergy toward planning the entire year for 2019. The Illinois Realtors Leadership Academy has given me the tools to continue to be a great leader within my industry and I look forward to spreading the word about this amazing opportunity to others.”

“After having just completed my term as President of the Chicago Association of Realtors, I truly owe my run up through the chairs, and the confidence to do so,  to my Illinois REALTORS® Leadership academy experience. I met future leaders and gained the insight and knowledge necessary to determine MY style and to be confident and comfortable moving into these positions.

The detailed knowledge base and in-depth insights to our state Association was worth it alone! The why and how of Illinois REALTORS® lobbying efforts, and my own for that matter, regarding the political landscape enabled me to have a grassroots base of knowledge (FPC Role) and awaken my desire to be active at the Local, State, and National levels supporting the REALTOR® Party.
This isn’t just a leadership program but a life-altering series on introspection and the creation of bonded friendships.”

Participation in the Leadership Development Program was an honor for me.  It clarified my perspective on a few things, especially the importance of being a knowledgeable person of action and staying involved.  I now have more tools and resources to better serve my Clients, Community, and Association.
