Recently, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) issued a notice to licensees concerning citations for failure to comply with continuing education requirements. The notice was sent via email to all licensees who have a valid email address on file with IDFPR.
If you did not receive this email notification, you may need to update your contact information with IDFPR so that you will receive future notices. You may also check the spam folder for emails from IDFPR ([email protected]) and add them to your approved sender list.
The notice states:
The Real Estate License Act of 2000 (“Act”) signed into law on August 9, 2019, contains a new provision authorizing the Department to adopt rules permitting the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (“Department”) to issue citations to any licensee for failure to comply with the continuing education requirements set forth in the Act and its accompanying Rules. The Department subsequently adopted Rules that became effective February 23, 2021 that (at 68 Ill. Adm. Code 1450.960) describe how the citation program will work. We urge you to review the document linked here, which further explains the new citation program and provides an example of a Citation document.
