Here’s the 411 on going to MIPIM and getting the most out of your visit to Cannes
Because NAR is a partner in the MIPIM Conference, association members get a substantial price break of about 55 percent off the registration cost. To learn about the conference and registration, visit the MIPIM conference website.
Book your room … early
Although it might seem like it’s a big city from the pictures you may have seen of the Cannes Film Festival, Cannes is actually pretty small. There are large hotels in Cannes, but they fill up quickly and are in great demand. MIPIM does have a website to help you get a room, but even basic rooms in Cannes can be €300 and up. There are cheaper options in Nice. You might also check out AirBnB for options.
Passport
You must have a valid U.S. passport to travel to France, but you do not need a visa. Make sure that your passport has at least six months from the time you leave for France to its expiration date to avoid any customs issues. Passports can usually be obtained in about 6-8 weeks. Information about obtaining a passport can be found on the U.S. Department of State website.
Food
There is an array of options available at all price points. (There’s even a Steak and Shake across from the Palais de Festivals.) There are food vendors inside the Palais, and many of the various countries and companies offer everything from sushi to espresso.
Climate
Cannes has a wonderfully temperate climate, and even in March you’ll rarely need more than a light jacket.
