A delegation of Illinois REALTORS® traveled more than 4,500 miles and six time zones this week to meet with potential international investors at MIPIM 2024, an annual four-day property event in Cannes, France.

Members who made the trip March 12-15 included:

  • Marsha Collins-Mroz (HomeSmart Connect LLC of Chicago),
  • Bill Caton (Caton Commercial Real Estate Group in Naperville),
  • Moses Hall (MoHall Commercial and Urban Development in Chicago),
  • Betty Milam (Berkshire Hathaway HomeService in Chicago),
  • Theresa Mueller (Trelleum LLC of Naperville),
  • Alex Ruggieri (North Star Equities in Savoy),
  • Shannon Sweetnam (Coldwell Banker Realty in Lake Forest) and
  • Andy Velkme (Caton Commercial Real Estate Group in Naperville).

During onsite interviews, members identified the benefits of traveling to France for MIPIM, best ways to connect with potential clients on the trip and how MIPIM was just one way they connect with and serve global business investors. The National Association of REALTORS® and some local associations organize events and activities, too.

“We collaborate with brokers all over the U.S. and so we’re always happy to help individuals we meet acquire what they need,” said Mueller, whether the commercial property was in multifamily, hotel or industrial sectors, just to name a few.

Organizers anticipated that MIPIM 2024 would attract more than 22,000 attendees representing 90 countries, including commercial investors, property developers, associations, hotel groups, technology and real estate business services. MIPIM offers a variety of networking events, educational sessions organized by topics and sectors, as well as a gala and awards ceremony.
