Jeffrey Barkstall wants all REALTORS® to know they’re welcome, needed and should apply for the 2019 Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors just as he did a year ago.

Six board positions will be open in 2019. Submit an application before the April 16 deadline.

Today, the broker for Century 21 Heartland in Champaign says his leadership experience for the Champaign County Area Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) and encouragement from colleagues helped him realize he could make a difference. He wants his message of inclusion to reach accomplished REALTORS® who are undecided because the board needs directors who represent the unique talents and diverse experiences of members across the state.

Those involved in the leadership of local associations will be prepared for state responsibilities.  “I wouldn’t be doing this if I hadn’t done it at the local level,” Barkstall said. “I learned the meat and potatoes of REALTOR® issues at the local level, and I have loved the experience of meeting and working with other REALTORS® to advocate for our clients.”

Barkstall, who is an RPAC Major Investor and a State Legislative Contact for Rep. Carol Ammons of the state House’s 103rd District, says he has enjoyed his involvement. Though he considers himself an introvert, he has been able to share his experiences and learn from others, too.

“I have experiences and insights that may be different from other people around the table,” he says. “I believe diversity is good for the betterment of all.”

Apply now for the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors, just as Barkstall, Ginger Sreenan and Vicky Turner did.
