REALTORS® who come to the Illinois REALTORS® Public Policy Meetings next week in East Peoria can share ideas, learn about statewide real estate issues and see a presentation by 2020 NAR President Vince Malta.

Malta is the CEO of Malta & Co. in San Francisco, a family real estate business founded by his father in 1979. The business manages 15 residential and commercial buildings.

He served as the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® president in 1993 and as the California Association of REALTORS® president in 2006. He’s testified on behalf of NAR to Congress and served as an NAR vice president in 2010 and 2011.

NAR Vice President of Association Affairs Mabél Guzmán, a broker for @properties in Chicago, will also attend. Also, she is the Illinois REALTORS® State Legislative Contact for Sen. Iris Martinez of Chicago, an Illinois RPAC Major Investor and a member of the NAR’s President’s Circle. She served on the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors, and she is a three-time recipient of the association’s Presidential Medallion.

Members who want hotel reservations must make their own arrangements since the Embassy Suites is sold out.

The annual meetings set the stage for the association’s advocacy and outreach efforts. The meetings cover topics ranging from public policy to legal issues, and the event debuts a revised committee structure which seeks to enhance member engagement.

Highlights of the event include a Kentucky Derby-themed auction to raise money for RPAC, and an awards ceremony recognizing RPAC investment by members and local REALTOR® associations. The association’s REALTOR® of the Year will be named on Wednesday.
