Late Friday, Congress passed a bill that would extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) until May 31. President Trump is expected to sign the bill, reported the National Association of REALTORS®.

“The National Association of REALTORS® appreciates that Congress extended the National Flood Insurance Program before its expiration,” NAR President John Smaby said. “On behalf of the country’s 1.3 million REALTORS®, we urge lawmakers to use this time to craft responsible, long-term reauthorization that includes meaningful reforms, as the process of short-term extensions is not sustainable.”

The legislation does not affect other concerns REALTORS® have regarding the partial government shutdown, including the processing of Federal Housing Administration-backed mortgages and service by the Internal Revenue Service, reported the NAR.
