Illinois REALTORS® Governmental Affairs Director (GAD) Neeley Erickson discusses how a REALTOR® Smart Growth Grant helped the city of McHenry analyze its downtown parking availabilty. A study found that McHenry has plenty of parking and just needs better signage, lighting, walkability and smarter parking time limits. Erickson said it’s important that the city learned the answer isn’t more parking decks or mandates, which can hinder housing and commercial projects when land use is limited.
