The Illinois Senate confirmed Gov. Bruce Rauner’s appointment of Bryan Schneider as director of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Schneider is divisional vice president and assistant general counselor for Walgreens. He’s a member of the state Board of Elections where he has served as chairman and vice chairman. He’s been with that panel since 2004.

Schneider previously worked in the General Assembly as general counsel for former House speaker and Republican leader Rep. Lee Daniels.

The 47-year-old is a CPA and has a law degree from the University of Wisconsin. He has an MBA from DePaul University.

Schneider replaces Manny Flores who had been appointed by former Gov. Pat Quinn.
