In the September issue of REALTOR® Party News, NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall and NAR CEO Bob Goldberg encourage all REALTORS® to register so they can vote in the Nov. 6 elections.

They want the 195,000 REALTORS® who are not registered to vote to take the first step to make their voices heard. They urge them to participate in National Voter Registration Day activities.

Since 2012, National Voter Registration Day has been observed in the United States on the fourth Tuesday of September. It’s endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED). Members of the National Voter Registration Day Steering Committee include: the Minnesota and Washington secretaries of state, and representatives from the National Association of State Election Directors, National Disability Rights Network, Military Officers Association of America, United Way Worldwide, Asian and Pacific Islander American VOTE, Twitter, Google and Facebook.

According to its website, National Voter Registration Day has four purposes:

  • register new voters,
  • educate voters,
  • mobilize volunteers and
  • set aside differences and unite Americans for the common purpose of celebrating democracy and the rights we share.
