Real Estate Disciplines

Following are recent disciplinary actions taken by the Real Estate Division of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Visit their website for more details and the most current disciplinary action.

  • Real estate broker license fined $1,000 and ordered to complete continuing education for displaying a billboard advertisement with her name written larger than that of her sponsoring broker and for failing to notify the department of her use of a diminutive name.
  • Real estate managing broker license and Real Estate Corporation license fined $1,000 joint and severally, and ordered to take a 15-hour course for failing to obtain all required signatures on a listing agreement.
  • Real estate managing broker license and real estate limited liability firm license fined $4,000 joint and severally and ordered to complete a class for failing to properly supervise a real estate broker handling an escrow account.
  • Real estate residential leasing agent license suspended for one year and fined $2,500 for performing activities independent of licensee’s sponsoring broker; using blind and misleading advertisements; and engaging in dishonorable, unethical or unprofessional conduct of a character likely to deceive, defraud or harm the public.
  • Application for licensure as real estate broker denied for failing to meet requirements for being of good moral character due to a felony conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
  • Applicant’s real estate broker license is denied due to failure to disclose convictions for burglaries, aggravated battery in a public place, robbery and theft on his application. Applicant also failed to disclose prior discipline on his cosmetology license.
  • The following approved courses of respondent ABR Real Estate Corporation dba Real Estate School of Illinois, license number 515.000029, are temporarily suspended as of the date of this Order and until such time as the department receives satisfactory assurance of compliance with the Act and its accompanying administrative rule: 513.001651, 513.001652, 513.001653, 513.001654, 513.001655, 513.001656, 513.001838, 513.002125, 513.002126, 513.002127, 513.002128, 564.003934, 564.003935 and 564.003936 for failure of the education provider to comply with the provisions of the real estate license act of 2000 or the rules for the administration of the act and violated term of consent order 2025-04721.
  • Real estate broker license granted on probation for two years due to a prior conviction.
  • Real estate managing broker license suspended for failure to file and/or pay Illinois state income taxes.
