REALTORS® should watch their email inboxes for potential fraudulent messages using the subject line “Register for the 2019 REALTORS Conference,” according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

One clue that indicates the emails may be fraudulent is that the registration mark does not appear after the word REALTORS®, says NAR. Although the messages appear to come from NAR, they come from the email address of [email protected]. Those who receive the email messages should take screenshots of the messages, file reports about them to the FBI IC3 website and then delete the messages.

Members who read the email messages should avoid clicking on the links within, NAR says. Members who have already opened the links should alert their IT departments so steps can be taken to protect devices from malware.

NAR has reported the situation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
