Whether you’re a newcomer, an experienced pro or anything in between, you can benefit greatly from the people you meet at the 2014 IAR Fall Conference & Expo in Chicago says REALTOR® Kim Keefe of RE/Max Plaza in Woodstock.

Keefe, who estimates she’s attended eight conferences since becoming a real estate professional, says: “The takeaway of each conference may be different, but the consistency is the ability to meet and interact with real estate agents from across the state, discuss business practices and decide how to handle everyday situations.

“What keeps me coming back, first and foremost, is a thirst for learning,” she says. “But second is the people.”

Keefe appreciates the ability to network with other REALTORS® for referrals and to give colleagues a feel for the way she does business. “The more other agents and other REALTORS® get to know me, the more successful my business is. For example, when I say a home is ‘move-in ready,’ it’s move-in ready.”

A member of the Heartland REALTOR® Association, Keefe has also been involved in IAR activities since 2009. She was a member of the board of directors from 2009 through 2012. And she’s served on numerous IAR committees, including the working group for this year’s fall conference and inaugural banquet.

When asked what she’d say to a colleague if she discovered he or she wasn’t making the short trip to McCormick Place this year, Keefe says: “It’s local. It’s relevant, and it’s how we make our living. It’s important that we be there!”

Although registration has closed for the Fall Conference & Expo, walk-ins are welcome. Check the schedule to see what’s offered at specific times each day.
