Illinois REALTORS® lobbyists are closely monitoring the veto session in Springfield this week, looking for any action by the General Assembly that could hurt our members or their clients.

The legislative session begins today as the state grapples with growing budget gaps.

Lawmakers are scheduled to meet for six days over the next two weeks. For lawmakers who lost in the 2016 General Election or who opted not to run again, this may be their last time in their elected post.

Each year Illinois REALTORS®’ lobbyists comb through thousands of bills filed to sift out the ones that can hurt or help the industry.

While there are no major industry-specific actions expected in the session this week and next, Illinois REALTORS® lobbyists Julie Sullivan and Greg St. Aubin are on high alert for any changes that could impact the association’s more than 44,000 members.
