Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director (GAD) Neeley Erickson was among the local experts participating in a panel discussion on the issues shaping the Rockford economy and trends to watch in 2026. The Rockford housing market is a leading local economic driver, but more affordable housing is needed.

“When we talk about development, we need to talk about housing affordability, affordable housing, affordable housing is not a bad word. All affordable housing needs is that no one spends more and 30% of their income on housing, and everyone deserves a place that is affordable to live,” said Erickson.
