Carbondale-area REALTOR® Camille Dorris, a member of the Egyptian Board of REALTORS® (EBOR), has been appointed by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker to the Illinois Affordable Housing Advisory Commission.
Dorris is a broker for RE/MAX Realty Central and has been an EBOR member since 2007.
The advisory commission advises the Illinois Housing Development Authority in the development and administration of an affordable housing program to meet the needs of low-income and very low-income households. In addition, it monitors and evaluates allocation of its funds.
Dorris has 25 years of experience working and advocating for disabled and unhoused residents of downstate Illinois. She serves as the executive director of Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless in Marion, where she is responsible for executing strategic planning, fiscal management and raising overall awareness. Prior to becoming executive director, she served as the assistant grants administrator, teaching job-seeking and retention skills and assisting with the management of state and federal grants.
Dorris was awarded the Southern Illinois Centerstone Community Champion Award in 2019, which recognizes community leaders who have made a difference by advancing mental health and substance use disorder services.
