Your Illinois REALTORS® Governmental Affairs Team had a successful week keeping all the bad Senate bills from progressing through the committee process. Since the Senate canceled session for Friday, March 13, it means that technically, all these bills are dead.

Unfortunately, it is too soon to declare victory since the legislature will now determine which bills will get deadline extensions. We are waiting for the list of Senate bills that have been extended and expect to receive that sometime next week. After we receive that list, we will have a better idea of which bills we will need to keep working to defeat.

We do know that the Senate bills that are part of the Governor’s housing bill package (SB 4060, SB 4061, SB 4062, SB 4063 and SB 4064) did not meet the Senate committee deadline, but we have been told that they are being held until they know what the Governor’s plan is to advance them.  We do expect that those bills will be extended.
