The Chicago Association of REALTORS® has produced a video celebrating the life of one of the association’s trailblazing presidents.

CAR dedicated a park bench Friday in the memory of Marion Maner, the association’s first African-American president.

The memorial bench is located in Avalon Park, a Chicago Park District property, near Maner’s former real estate office and his Calumet Heights home. Maner, who served as CAR’s president from 1977 to 1978, died in October 2013.

Maner founded Maner Realty in 1956 and became one of the first African-American brokers. He served as president of the Dearborn REALTIST® Board.
