NAR staff members (l to r) Bernice Barajas, Len Tovar, Jake Hertzmann, Aimee Nieves and Megan Leetch drove to Joliet to see Three Rivers REALTORS® in action.

For the leaders of the Three Rivers Association of REALTORS® and several National Association of REALTORS® staff members from Chicago, the business relationships started during a day together in Joliet were just as important as anything else they accomplished.

Ken Pytlewski

“It was good to find out a little about each of the staff members,” says Three Rivers President Ken Pytlewski, managing broker and sales consultant for Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group office in New Lenox. “It was good for them to see what we do here at the Three Rivers Association. What a great group.”

“We enjoyed the experience so much that (NAR Senior Executive Assistant, Office of Senior Vice President and General Counsel) Aimee Nieves and I will be volunteering at their annual golf outing at the end of May,” says NAR Coordinator of Leadership Resources Len Tovar.

As a part of the Day in the Life Initiative, Tovar and Nieves were joined by: Megan Leetch, coordinator, member services, Real Estate Buyer’s Council (REBAC); Bernice Barajas, association and MLS governance, administrative assistant; and Jake Hertzmann, NAR benefits, compensation and HRIS assistant. They attended the TRAR Board of Directors, the TRAR Political Action Committee and the TRAR Government Affairs Committee meetings.

“We had a great experience visiting with the Three Rivers Association,” said Tovar.  “We saw firsthand how the local association operates, how NAR’s messages carry down and how their local leaders push them out to members. They talked about topics that included RPAC, flood insurance, communication with members of congress and communication with local government.

“It was great to see members come together to get answers to their questions,” Tovar said. “We were impressed at the commitment local leadership has for members, wanting them to know it all!”

Part of a larger plan

David McClintock

“The idea for the Day in the Life Initiative was NAR CEO Bob Goldberg’s,” says TRAR CEO David McClintock. “He decided that all 300 of NAR’s employees in Washington and Chicago have to spend a day with a REALTOR®. It could be with an association, an owner, an agent or a branch manager. The visits began in mid-March and will go through the end of September, I think.”

“Bob’s initiative has given us the best on-the-job experience and is such a great motivation to continue doing what we do for the members!” says Tovar.

“Each of us came away with some valuable insight into their daily lives,” says Nieves. “We brought back with us a greater understanding of association life on a level that we rarely witness.”

“We had a great day,” said McClintock.
