Although the Illinois General Assembly did not vote on a proposal for a graduated real estate transfer tax in Cook County during the fall veto session, there were bills of interest sent to the governor for his consideration, according to the Nov. 15 issue of the Illinois REALTORS® State Capitol Report.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker will consider:

  • House Bill 961 to amend the Property Tax Code so Cook County senior citizens who qualify for homestead exemptions would not have to reapply for them from 2019 to 2023.
  • Senate Bill 1042 to extend the life of a Tax Increment Financing district in Savanna.
  • House Bill 1268 to extend the repeal date of the Community Association Manager Licensing and Disciplinary Act two years, until Jan. 1, 2022.
  • Senate Bill 659 to require licensed fire sprinkler system inspectors to obtain NICET Level 3 certification by Dec. 31, 2021 to maintain their licenses.
