House Republican Leader Jim Durkin will receive several types of support from Illinois REALTORS® for the March 20 general primary.

Registered voters in the 82nd District for the Illinois House of Representatives will receive mailers and see social media advertising supporting Durkin. The mailers and electronic advertising come from Illinois REALTORS® as part of an independent expenditure campaign. Independent expenditure activities take place in support of a candidate for public office without any coordination with the candidate or the candidate’s campaign.

Also, the Illinois REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) trustees are urging members in the 82nd district to vote for Durkin. His record of supporting business, economic growth, private property rights and low taxes makes him a REALTOR® champion. For those reasons, his reelection bid is considered an opportunity race, too.

Durkin is facing Burr Ridge Mayor Mickey Straub in the Republican primary. Tom Chlystek and Elyse Hoffenberg are competing for the Democratic nomination. The party winners will face off in the Nov. 6 general election.

Durkin has served voters in his district since 2006. He’s been re-elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. The 82nd District includes more than 100,000 people in the communities of Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Darien, Woodridge, Lemont, Lockport and Homer Glen.

Before serving the residents of the 82nd District, Durkin served residents of the 44th District from 1995 to 2002.
