Naperville-area REALTOR® John Letourneau wants to fill a three-year term on the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors and his motivation comes from what he’s learned from several REALTOR® organizations.

“Volunteering at the local, state and national levels has led me to a path that I would have never imagined when I was first licensed in 2005,” says LeTourneau, Commercial Director for Keller Williams Realty Infinity in Naperville. “I have been blessed to meet, transact and interact with members of the REALTOR® family from across the county and the world. The incredibly generous members who have volunteered with and mentored me over the years have helped me to raise my professionalism and view the industry as much more than simply selling houses.”

LeTourneau is a member of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® Board of Directors and is their treasurer elect. With the National Association of REALTORS®, LeTourneau served on the 2018 Commercial Real Estate Research Advisory Board. With Illinois REALTORS®, he participated in the 2018 Leadership Development Program and serves on the Global Business Council and the Commercial-Industrial-Investment Committee. He’s an RPAC Major Investor, the Illinois REALTORS® Consulate General Liaison to Ireland and the State Legislative Contact for state Sen. John Curran of Woodridge.

He is one of nine REALTORS® slated to join the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors at the Fall Business Meetings, Sept. 17-19 at the Chicago Marriott in Naperville.

How did you become a REALTOR® and why have you stayed?

“I initially became a REALTOR® because I thought that’s what everybody who sells real estate had to do,” says LeTourneau. “In my mind, it was a way to get to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), and I didn’t give it much thought.

“My career then transitioned to that of a non-REALTOR® commercial broker, and I spent several years outside the REALTOR® family,” he says. “That is when I realized all the benefits and strengths of the REALTOR® brand.

“Then, I joined a REALTOR®-based commercial brokerage, became very active and involved in committees at the local, state, and national level, and I am proud to be a Major Investor,” he says. “Being a REALTOR® means that I am part of a powerful group of professionals who stand for advocacy, ethics and a commitment to excellence.”

How do you measure your success?

“I measure success in two ways,” says LeTourneau. “1) Am I doing everything I can to serve my clients to the best of my abilities?  2)  Am I serving my fellow REALTORS® to the best of my abilities?

“Since I bear a fiduciary responsibility for my client’s well-being, I need to keep that at the forefront of my brokerage practice,” he says. “As a representative on the board of directors of both Illinois REALTORS® and Mainstreet, it is critical that I keep our members’ best interests at heart and remember that I am there as the voice of our membership.”

LeTourneau is an experienced international real estate instructor and has earned the following designations: Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), e-Pro and Seller Representative Specialist (SRS).
