Natalie Mulhall, broker for Mauer Real Estate Group in Loves Park, was appointed by the Belvidere City Council to the Belvidere Planning & Zoning Commission on March 16.

“I am happy to receive this appointment and learn all I can before my term is over,” said Mulhall, who’s been active in the community since 2001, when she was appointed to the Belvidere Historic Preservation Commission. She has attended the Citizens Police Academy and served as a Volunteer in Police Service member. She’s a member of the Boone County Regional Planning Commission and the Agricultural and Farmland Protection Commission of Boone County.

She became a REALTOR® in 2017.

“I believe that my career and my community go hand in hand,” Mulhall said. “I am best able to serve my clients by being knowledgeable and informed about what is happening in Belvidere and how we are moving forward as a vibrant community.”

She takes over the term of Daniel Arevalo, who was recently appointed Ward 2 Alderman. Her term will last through May 1, 2021.

The Belvidere Planning and Zoning Commission meets at least once a month to review requests for variances and special use permits. The commission makes recommendations to the Belvidere city council regarding rezoning, tax amendments and subdivisions, using the city’s comprehensive plan as a guide.

Mulhall says she plans to run for Belvidere alderman in 2021.

“Being involved as a commission member or elected official, I can bring a fresh perspective as a REALTOR® to our city’s policymakers and I can help protect homeowners’ rights at a municipal level,” she said.
