The Illinois REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees urge 24th District registered voters to reelect Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez in the March 20 general primary.

Hernandez has been identified by her local association and by RPAC as a REALTOR® champion. In other words, she is for business, private property rights, low taxes and economic growth. Her reelection bid is termed an Opportunity Race.

Hernandez was first elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2006, and then reelected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. Prior to that, she worked as a Cicero Public Schools administrator for 17 years and was a senior policy advisor for Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn.

At the beginning of the 2017 legislative session, Hernandez held the following committee assignments:

  • Vice chair, Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education,
  • Appropriations-Human Services,
  • Chair, Consumer Protection,
  • Elementary & Secondary Education Licensing, Administration and Oversight,
  • Health Care Licenses,
  • Higher Education and
  • Labor & Commerce.

Her opponent in the Democratic primary is Robert Reyes. The Republicans do not have a candidate who has filed for the election.
