REALTORS® planning to attend the Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, May 14-19 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C., can attend sessions featuring the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

On May 15, Mick Mulvaney, acting director of the CFPB, will provide the keynote address for the Regulatory Issues Forum.

On May 16, HUD Secretary Ben Carson joins Congressman Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri to talk about fair and safe housing. They will be joined by representatives of five NAR partner organizations: National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP) and the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR).

Capitol Hill visits are scheduled for the afternoon of May 16.

On May 18, three Illinois REALTORS® will be part of the WCR Caffeinated & Connect, Center Stage Programs & Marketplace morning session that will be broken down into three parts: meeting 2019 national leadership team candidates, a Fair Housing Panel and a networking opportunity to link female REALTORS® with mentors and leaders. Illinois representatives will include West Town Realty Chicago’s Jessica Barrera, CarMarc Realty Group of West Chicago’s Managing Broker/Owner Carrie J. Little and DreamTown Realty Chicago Broker Nykea Pippion McGriff.

Little will also participate in WCR PMN Pop-up Course: Referral Rehab – Building ROI Into Your Business Plan.

Conference registration is free for NAR members. However, hotel reservations are separate and the deadline was April 13.

Expo May 16 and May 17

The expo will feature booths with vendors who’ll provide information about:

  • Internet prospecting solutions,
  • MLS,
  • lead generation systems and
  • financial services.
