Illinois REALTORS® Fall Business Meetings continued in Oak Brook Wednesday, with members attending committee meetings and open forums.

Open forum sessions began with Amy Chorew sharing her expertise in “Developing the Power of You” with agents and managers. As a technology savvy social media guru and top-rated national instructor, she helps brokers and companies capture buyers’ and sellers’ attention.

In the REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee (RPIC) Forum, state Sen. Cristina Castro explained her ideas for building up the state’s housing market and promoting single family homeownership. Sen. Castro is an influential, reliable and trusted advocate for real estate in the General Assembly. She is the Majority Caucus Whip and Chair of the Executive Committee.

During the Public Policy Forum, commercial REALTORS® Andy Velkme and Tim Ryan discussed how REALTORS® are often caught in the middle on federal, state and local issues. They explained Illinois REALTORS®’ concerns about the initial version of the Electric Vehicle Charging Station Act, and how your state association successfully negotiated improvements in the bill for landlords. The bill takes effect on Jan. 1, 2024.

During the Legal Update, Illinois REALTORS® Legal Hotline Attorney Vicki Munson discussed the timeliest legal issues of the real estate industry, including NAR seller class action litigation, changes to real estate laws, artificial intelligence, fraud in real estate transactions and the importance of buyer brokerage agreements.

During the MLS Summit, MRED’s Managing Director Chris Haran addressed how artificial intelligence affects MLSs and ArentFox Schiff Partner Brian Schneider looked at its effect on data security.

The day concluded with a multimedia presentation and a reception.

Thursday morning the Board of Directors will meet, closing out the 2023 Fall Business Meetings.
