Members of the RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals brokerage – with offices in Crest Hill, Shorewood and Plainfield – showed their community spirit by collecting for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program that serves Will, Kendall and Grundy counties.
“We wanted to help parents and children this holiday season,” said Kathy Dames, co-owner of RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals. “During these unprecedented times, we wanted to make it easier on parents who can’t afford presents for their children.”
On behalf of the entire brokerage, REALTORS® Ryan Behrens and Shannon Dames dropped off new unwrapped toys at the Toys for Tots collection station in Joliet. It was the eighth straight year the brokerage has helped this charity. Behrens is the designated managing broker. Shannon Dames is the co-owner and broker as well as the daughter of Kathy Dames.
In 2019, Toys for Tots distributed 32,233 toys in Will, Kendall and Grundy counties, supporting 7,908 children. According to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation website, the nonprofit organization uses 97 percent of monetary donations for toys, books and other gifts for less fortunate children. Less than 3 percent is spent on fundraising and overhead.
