The Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (REEF) is offering a new scholarship to help high school graduates with vocational career training during the 2019-2020 school year.
Applications for the Parker R. Oldenettel Scholarship are due April 1 at the REEF office in Springfield, Ill. Get your application now.
The Parker Oldenettel Scholarship Fund was created following the death of 21-year-old Parker Oldenettel, the son of Illinois REALTORS® Past President Michael D. Oldenettel and his wife, Lori. Parker was a 2018 graduate of the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, making the Dean’s List with a degree in Agriculture and Diesel Technologies.
The scholarship was established to assist and encourage students to pursue productive careers in a trade, a craft or as a technician. The scholarship can be used to cover tuition, room, board and materials at U.S. trade schools, technical schools, community colleges, universities, colleges of further education, institutes of technology and polytechnic institutes. The number of scholarships and the amount of each scholarship (up to $1,000) will be determined by the foundation.
Applicants must be Illinois residents who are children or grandchildren of:
- REALTORS®,
- REALTOR® associates in good standing or
- Employees of a local Illinois REALTOR® association, the Illinois REALTORS® or the National Association of REALTORS®.
REEF is a not-for-profit organization established to aid and promote the work of real estate education throughout Illinois. The foundation is supported by voluntary contributions from organizations and individuals who recognize the importance of furthering academic experience and training in the real estate industry in Illinois.
REEF also offers several other scholarships with April 1 deadlines. They include: the Richard “Dick” Wiegers Scholarship, the James M. Kinney Scholarship, the George Patt Scholarship, the Academic Scholarship, the Morgan L. Fitch Scholarship and the Thomas F. Seay Scholarship. For applications, go to ilreef.org/scholarship/.
