REALTORS® who watch the video about the 2019 NAR Remodeling Impact Report will see how valuable the report can be to their clients, whether buying or selling their homes.

For example, the three home improvement projects consumers got the most satisfaction from were complete kitchen remodels, closet renovations and interior paint jobs, says Jessica Lautz, the vice president of demographics and behavioral insights for NAR.

The three projects that provided the most value in the eyes of consumers were new roofs, refinished hardwood floors and replaced hardwood floors, she says.

The report analyzed projects by costs, the value that can be recouped and the satisfaction homeowners felt when the projects were completed. Satisfaction is measured by a “Joy Score,” a 10-point scale with 10 being the highest and one the lowest, Lautz says.
