The Capital Area REALTORS® (CAR) announced that Kathy Nichelson, director of Member Services, will serve as acting chief executive officer after CEO Dan Sale leaves his position at the end of August.

Cathy Wagner, director of MLS services, will be the point person for the local association and answer all MLS questions as well.

In mid-July, Capital Area REALTORS® was one of four local associations in Illinois to announce they were joining a regional MLS named the RMLS Alliance, LLC, that would include parts of central and southern Illinois and parts of Iowa. The announcement came just days after the Springfield Business Journal reported that Sale would be leaving his position for a job as CEO for the St. Louis REALTORS®.

In an email to Capital Area members, CAR President Ed Mahoney praised the staff members for working hard to make sure the transition to using the new MLS and finding a new CEO will be seamless.

“Given all that is taking place with the regional MLS efforts, the board of directors has decided to place the search for a permanent CEO on hold for the time being until this initiative is well underway,” Mahoney said. “In the meantime, please be assured that the organization is in great shape and will continue to operate and move forward just fine.”
