The Apartment Source in Chicago

Chicago REALTORS® collected and donated more than 150 gently used coats to the 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization One Warm Coat, so that homeless adults and children could stay warm this winter. More than 20 REALTORS® from the Logan Square offices of The Apartment Source in Chicago participated.

Volunteers included: Alex Anderson, Vlad Baicu, Genelle Banks, Erik Biatti, Carly Boles, Maria Chua, Khaled El-Helo, Jon Elu, Carlos Guerra, Madison Holmers, Samantha Rose Huebner, Fredrick “Freddy” Lawrence, Jennifer Leiva, Francisco Lopez, Audreanna Luna, Paul Mortell, Ariel Pang, Brian Pitts, Nicholas Porte, Miguel Tineo Ramirez, Tyson Schutz, Hadi Sharabi and Christina Zeia.

A statement from The Apartment Source summarized why the group worked together on this project: “According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 582,462 people are experiencing homelessness in the United States, and 28 percent are families with children. This number is likely much higher than reported. As real estate professionals operating in Chicago, there is an overwhelming need for winter clothing donations in our community and we are passionate about supporting organizations donating money and supplies to people without homes.”

RE/MAX Suburban in the Chicago area

REALTORS® at RE/MAX Suburban offices in numerous locations are participating in four service projects this month:

  • Literary Magic for a Cause – At the RE/MAX Suburban office in Wheaton, award-winning authors Florin T. Kolbaba and Dr. Scott J. Kolbaba participated in a holiday book signing for “Clara’s Magic Garden.” For every hardcover and softcover copy of the book sold, donations of $10 and $8, respectively, will be donated to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
  • Toys for Tots – Members at offices in Algonquin, Lake Zurich and Libertyville are collecting donations for the Toys for Tots campaign through Dec. 15.
  • Food drive – REALTORS® and community members are collecting dry foods and canned goods for the Schaumburg Food Pantry through Dec. 15.
  • Blanket and stuffed toy drive – Through Dec. 29, REALTORS®, their families and community members are collecting blankets and stuffed toys for young patients at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Items can be dropped off at 11 RE/MAX Suburban locations or purchased directly from patients’ Amazon Wish Lists at rem.ax/cuddles4kids.

“RE/MAX Suburban is honored to continue our tradition of giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season. We believe that small acts of kindness can create a world of difference,” says Luke Mutter, co-owner at RE/MAX Suburban.

Peoria Area Association of REALTORS®

Since last February, as many as 25 Peoria Area Association of REALTORS® (PAAR) members and affiliate members (insurance agents, lenders, vendors and more) have packed boxes of food each month for the Midwest Food Bank in Peoria as part of the “Closing in on Hunger” campaign. In those 10 months, volunteers have prepared 45,000 meals and donated more than 500 hours of service to the cause, which helps feed the hungry in western Illinois and parts of three other surrounding states. So far, more than 100 PAAR members participated.
