U.S. Rep. John Shimkus of Collinsville met with REALTORS® Monday morning at the Keller Inn & Convention Center in Effingham to answer questions and talk about issues important to the real estate industry.
Federal Political Coordinator and Collinsville-area REALTOR® Doug Hartmann, Sr., facilitated conversation between audience members and Shimkus. Topics of conversation included government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) reform, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) reform and the powers of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
Also on hand was Illinois REALTORS® Director of Grassroots and Political Programs Neil Malone and Illinois REALTORS® Immediate Past President Matt Difanis of Champaign.
Shimkus represents constituents in Illinois’ 15th district, which includes 33 counties and covers much of the southeast corner of the state but extends west to Collinsville. The district includes cities such as Danville, Charleston, Effingham and Harrisburg.
