The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) is warning licensees to carefully review email messages claiming to be from IDFPR because of a spoofing email scam.

According to IDFPR, scammers are sending emails that appear to come from IDFPR staff, claiming to have sent documents for you to sign. The message will ask you to reply to their message to confirm receipt of documents and suggests that you click on a link to send secure files.

If you receive an email like this IDFPR cautions you to:

  • Disregard it immediately.
  • Do NOT click any links or download any attachments.
  • Do not provide personal information in response to the message.

IDFPR will not contact you in this manner. Legitimate communications from the Department will never direct you to review documents through unsolicited links.

If you have any questions about an email, contact IDFPR at [email protected].
