The Illinois REALTORS®’ testimony against rent control was one of a handful of issues covered in the May 4 State Capitol Report.
Action was limited with only the Senate in session during the week. While several Senate committees and a subcommittee heard testimony, REALTORS® noted a few bills advanced for future consideration by the full chamber and two bills received formal Senate approval.
Regarding rent control, Local Governmental Affairs Director Brian Bernardoni testified against multiple pieces of legislation before the Illinois Senate Subcommittee on Special Issues, and no votes were taken. Bernardoni is the GAD for the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
