The Egyptian Board of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® pledged a combined $5,000 to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois through their involvement in the first-ever Southern Illinois Made Expo, July 28 and 29 in Marion.

Representatives of the Egyptian Board met with state Sen. Dale Fowler of the 59th District for a check presentation last week at The Pavillion in Marion.

The local association will have a booth at the Southern Illinois Made Expo, thanks to the efforts of State Legislative Contact and REALTOR® Teresa Camarato (Property with TLC, LLC, based in Herrin). Developed through a partnership between Sen. Fowler and the Southern Illinois Chamber of Commerce, the expo will showcase products from and destinations available in Southern Illinois. Exhibitors from the region will display and sell their innovative products, unique creations and tasty treats.

“This project allows us to help the Southern Illinois economy and veterans through the Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. It also allows us to visit with prospective commercial and residential clients,” said Local Government Affairs Director Ron Deedrick, who serves members in the Southern Illinois and Metro East areas. “That’s a win-win-win for us.”

Honor Flight Chairman Bryan Questelle listens as State Sen. Dale Fowler talks about the partnership between area REALTORS®, area Chambers of Commerce and the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois.

Expo admission will be a $5 suggested donation to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. All gate fees, vendor booths and food proceeds with be given to the veterans’ charity, which is scheduled for its fourth flight, Oct. 16, from Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois.

The Marion-based nonprofit organization takes veterans on one-day trips to Washington, D.C., to visit the National World War II Memorial and the Korean War Memorial, although additional stops at other monuments and memorials may be included. The Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois pays airfare, bus fare, entry fees, food and supplies for the participating veterans.
