(l to r) REALTORS® Zach Criswell, David Schwartz, Michael Lescher and John LeTourneau appeared before Lake County municipal administrators and economic development staff.

Illinois REALTORS® Local Government Affairs Director Howard Handler and a panel of Lake County REALTORS® spoke to municipal administrators and economic development staff this week about the positive role real estate plays in a community.

They were invited by Lake County Partners, Lake County’s private, non-profit corporation devoted to attracting, retaining and expanding businesses in Lake County.

Handler opened the discussion by providing an overview of the REALTOR® associations, how we interact with municipalities and how we can contribute to their real estate policies and economic development efforts.

The panel, which included Zach Criswell (Baird & Warner), David Schwartz (Baird & Warner), Michael Lescher (RE/MAX Showcase) and John LeTourneau (Coldwell Banker) shared their insights into commercial market trends, the impact of e-commerce on commercial real estate, how industrial design space differs from years past, what first-time homebuyers are looking for, residential inventory, which residential markets are hot and what can municipalities to do attract millennial buyers, and much more.
