Illinois REALTORS® is urging members in the 28th District for the Illinois House of Representatives and registered voters there to support incumbent Rep. Bob Rita of Blue Island in the March 20 general primary.

Voters received mailers and saw social media electronic advertising for Rita from Illinois REALTORS® as part of an independent expenditure campaign. Independent expenditure activities take place in support of a candidate for public office without any coordination with the candidate or the candidate’s campaign. Also, Illinois REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) trustees are urging members in the 28th District to vote for Rita. His record of supporting business, economic growth, private property rights and low taxes makes him a REALTOR® champion. For those reasons, his reelection bid is considered an opportunity race, too.

Rita is facing Kimberly Koschnitzky and Mary Carvlin in the Democratic primary. No Republicans have filed for the Republican nomination. The primary winner will advance to the Nov. 6 general election.

Rita is chairperson of the Business & Occupational Licenses Committee and the Tollway Oversight Committee.  He’s vice chairperson of the Consumer Protection Committee and the Executive Committee.  He serves on 12 other committees.

He has served voters in his district since 2002. He’s been re-elected in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. The 28th District includes more than 110,000 people and the cities of Blue Island, Chicago and Oak Forest as well as villages of Calumet Park, Crestwood, Midlothian, Orland Park, Riverdale, Robbins and Tinley Park.
