If you know homeowners who are late on mortgage, property tax, property insurance or homeowner/condo fee payments, remind them to submit their applications for financial assistance through the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) by 11:59 p.m., Tues., Oct. 31.
That’s the deadline set by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA).
To qualify for assistance, homeowners must meet several criteria:
- Have a household income at or below 150 percent of the area’s median income,
- Own and occupy a home in Illinois as a primary residence,
- Experienced a financial hardship after Jan. 21, 2020, related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including hardships that began before that date but continued after.
