Members of the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® (NSBAR) are collecting non-perishable food and toiletries for the Cuba Township Food Pantry through Dec. 10 and will volunteer at the Northfield Township Food Pantry on Dec. 17.

“This year, we are excited to support two worthy food panties in the areas we serve,” commented NSBAR Board President Wayne Paprocki. “We are looking forward to giving back this holiday season and hope to build lasting relationships with both organizations.”

For the Cuba Township project, NSBAR offices in Northbrook (450 Skokie Blvd., Building 1200) and Barrington (1250 S. Grove Ave., Suite 200) have been designated as donation drop-off points for NSBAR members and staff. Requested items include:

  • Cold and hot cereals;
  • Canned chicken and tuna;
  • Peanut butter and jelly;
  • Crackers, popcorn and other snacks;
  • Low sodium food;
  • Coffee and juices;
  • Canned fruit;
  • Non-perishable prepared dinners;
  • Diabetic, low-sugar foods;
  • Pasta, rice, pasta sauces;
  • Toothpaste, shampoo and other toiletries;
  • Toilet paper, paper towels and napkins;
  • Laundry and cleaning supplies;
  • Pet food; and
  • $20 grocery and discount store gift cards.

Once the collection is complete, NSBAR will stock shelves at the Cuba pantry and help pack holiday boxes for individuals.

At the Northfield Township event in Glenview, NSBAR members will help with a delivery from the Greater Chicago Food Depository. They will break down pallets of food and help organize them in the facility.

“We are planning to extend our volunteer activities next year by hosting an additional event in the spring time,” said Paprocki.

North Shore-Barrington officers include: Chairman of the Board Wayne Paprocki of Chicago, Chair-Elect Keith Hancock of Glenview, Secretary-Treasurer Carrie Healy of Winnetka and Association Executive Steve Volkodav of Northbrook.
